Our creative artists and civic-minded clients continually find new ways that Mini Murals can give voice to timely issues and places.
- For Midtown Houston, we commissioned two artists to create timely pieces about COVID-19 and Black Lives Matter. Read stories about these newly installed Mini Murals in the Chron and in Click2Houston.
- For the Memorial Management District we have been developing a set by artist Joy Matheson that includes a Houston/Texas “Heroes & Icons” series, with real estate company MetroNational.
- For the City of Pasadena, we’ve done a series about Pasadena’s iconic events, people and places (can you say Strawberry Festival?); see a video interview here about them with Pasadena-native artist, Pilot, and a full feature Houston Chronicle article online, and in print on Wednesday (12/23).
- Coming up soon is a set that addresses human trafficking, which includes a hotline to call. These and four others were sponsored by Council Member Karla Cisneros for District H, with opportunities for input from the community.
It’s amazing how much people can express on a blank utility cabinet at an intersection – a true blank slate for human creativity. Mini Murals supporters, keep an eye out for many more to come in 2021!
