Mini Murals

Mini Murals is an award-winning civic art program of UP Art Studio. The program commissions artists to paint small-scale murals on traffic signal control cabinets and other utility cabinets in the right of way in diverse neighborhoods of Texas cities. Over the past 5 years, UP Art Studio has commissioned artists to paint more than 300 Mini Murals.

Big Walls Big Dreams

Big Walls Big Dreams is a series of murals curated and produced by UP Art Studio. Previous events have occurred annually in Miami during the world-renowned Art Basel Week since 2013. In May 2021, Big Walls Big Dreams is kicking off in Houston with a self-guided mural tour experience.

Houston Mural Map

Launched in July 2020, the Houston Mural Map website immediately became the go-to resource for people interested in seeing, visiting, and learning about the hundreds of vibrant murals in Greater Houston, and the artists who create them. It features an interactive digital map that shows the locations of hundreds of colorful street installations, which express the energy and cultural character of Houston.

About Us

UP Art Studio is a public art and creative placemaking consulting firm founded in Houston in 2012. The firm has successfully managed hundreds of projects since then. The firm facilitates transformative award-winning projects – achieving the goals of its mission of “Civic Pride through Civic Art” through collaborative efforts with artists and the people in communities. They facilitate projects in communities nationally, engaging people and achieving community development via the work of local and international artists.

 The firm’s principals and founders, Noah Quiles and Elia Quiles, are a husband and wife team who curate, create, manage, and implement public art plans and projects. Together, they and their associates offer proven experience in all areas of program and project management and delivery. They are passionate about harnessing the power of art and placemaking – and the creativity of artists – to uplift people, neighborhoods, and underserved areas.
